Pricing principles
Encouraging longer stays: Those who come for Oct 10 - Nov 10 will have the most immersive experience, because a large part of what we are testing is different ways of living and working together. As a result, the longer you stay, the cheaper the cost will be.
Scholarships: We want to make Edge City Lanna especially welcoming to people like scientists, young builders, musicians, open source developers, and artists. We have created special tickets for Builders and Scholars to make Edge City Lanna more affordable to these groups.
Thank you to locals: We are so thankful to Chiang Mai for hosting us, and realize locals have busy lives already, so as a thank you, we are offering a big discount for day passes to locals who want to stop by throughout the month.
Sponsor a builder
We have a list of incredible builders and young talent who need scholarships to attend. We are doing our best to find sponsors to provide as many scholarships as possible. If you are interested in sponsoring someone’s scholarship to attend Edge City Lanna, buy a Patron ticket or get in touch!
Tickets for participants
Below is our current pricing. Early bird pricing ends Sep 10th. We are increasing ticket prices 10% every Sunday until the event and tickets are limited.
Note: If you stay for 2 weeks you’ll get a 7.5% discount, and 3 weeks will give a 12.5% discount. Staying all 4 weeks is significantly cheaper.
(Updated to reflect prices after October 20th)
Note: All tickets aside from Patron are subject to a plus 7% sales tax since our non-profit is not tax exempt in Thailand

Ecosystem
Builder
Same access as the Standard ticket, but at a discounted price to make it more achievable for hackers and builders to join us.
To qualify, let us know in the application if you meet one of the following criteria:
Send us information about a project you are building that isn’t VC-funded.
Tell us about 2-3 hackathons you’ve competed in the past 18 months + your GitHub profile.
Propose a project to work on during Edge City Lanna that will contribute to the popup village (e.g. writing an ethnography of attendees; building software for attendees to together use during the month).
Scholar
We are providing scholarships which are even more discounted to make it more achievable for young people and those with less financial resources to join us.
Note: flights and additional food beyond what the access pass covers are not included.
Patron Donation (VCs, investors)
This tier will include all aspects of a standard ticket, with an additional donation to our 501(c)(3).
To keep prices accessible for builders and young people, tickets for VCs will cost more. This lets us cultivate an ecosystem focused on building and creation, which in turn creates more opportunities for the VCs who do attend to meet founders and companies to invest in.
Tickets for Thai locals
We will have a number of both ticketed and free events for Thai locals as the month progresses. More information on local Thai tickets can be found in this blog post.
Locl tickets are available for purchase in person at Alt_Ping River, 3 Soi 1, Chiang Mai-Lamphun Rd, starting October 10th, 10am-5pm daily. Please remember to bring your Passport.
How will ticket proceeds be spent?
We are not making a profit on this gathering, and we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. In fact, ticket sales won’t cover all our expenses but they are extremely helpful and means we’re all contributing.
Creating a memorable experience involves significant costs, and it is important that this event is self-sustaining. For full transparency, the major costs to bring this popup village into being include: co-working spaces, event spaces for seminars and talks, athletic activities, shared local organic meals, community events, team support, and inclusion of children and child care, a local production team.
We can’t wait to see you in Chiang Mai Oct 10 - Nov 10! Please apply to secure your spot.
Great stuff! Can't wait to be there.
