We can't wait to make this opening one to remember!
Welcome to Edge City Lanna! We're thrilled to have you here as we kick off an incredible month. This weekend is all about getting settled, meeting new people, and starting to experience everything Edge City has to offer. Here's what you need to know to get started.
Check-In and Get Settled
Check in to the event at Alt_Ping River Coworking Space starting Thursday, October 10th, from 10am-5pm each day. At check-in, you'll receive your wristband and all the essentials for the event. You can see the calendar on Social Layer (login with email; we recommend bookmarking the site).
Before you head over, it’s a good idea to double-check that your accommodation is ready to receive you and hasn’t had trouble after the flooding. Please be understanding if things are not quite perfect — the local community is still in the process of cleaning everything up and getting ready again after two waves of flooding this week.
Friday (Oct 11th): Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will be held on Friday, 5pm-8pm at Weave Artisan. This is your chance to meet fellow Lanna attendees, hear more about the month ahead, connect with the local Thai community, and officially launch Edge City Lanna! Make sure to check in at Alt_Ping River beforehand to get your wristband.
You can RSVP here.
Saturday (Oct 12th): Help Businesses Get Back on Their Feet & Get to Know Edge City
On Saturday from 3pm-6pm, we’ll be combining community building with support for local businesses that were affected by the recent flooding. Here’s what the day will look like:
3pm: Meet at Alt_Ping River. We’ll form small groups of 8-16 people, grab a coffee, and explore the area. Spend the afternoon visiting local businesses, buying souvenirs, food, and more to support the community.
4-6pm: We’ll gather at Red Dog Gallery for a community gathering. Bring a small gift purchased during the day to share with the group.
6pm: After the gathering, we’ll head to the Night Market to continue supporting local vendors and enjoy the evening together.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other while directly helping the local community.
You can RSVP here.
Sunday (Oct 13th): Community Dinner at Early Owls
Sunday Dinner is a weekly tradition here at Edge City, and this one will be extra special since it's our first of Lanna. Join us at Early Owls at 5:30pm-8pm for a relaxed evening of dining, activities and conversation. We’ll discuss what's coming up and get prepped for the week and month ahead.
You can RSVP here.
Health
We hope that the month you spend in Edge City is one of the healthiest of your year. This month we’re encouraging every participant to do 30 minutes of activity a day by participating in daily workouts (please check the social layer schedule), eat clean (avoid processed foods and refined sugars), socialize, get sunlight, and avoid blue light late at night (we have some swag to help with that!).
Workouts will start with Saturday and Sunday yoga at 11am and Saturday Run Club at 10:30am.
Community Meals
We provide daily community breakfasts and lunches at Chef's Together. You can choose one meal per day from these options:
Breakfast (8am-10:30am)
Lunch (11am-2pm)
Please RSVP on Social Layer beforehand for the meal you will attend if possible. RSVPs help us ensure we have enough without too much excess. It's ideal if you RSVP to the meal you're planning to attend, but it's not 100% necessary.
Dinner is not provided (except for the Sunday Community Dinner), but there are plenty of great dining options in town. Start a group in the ‘Food & Self Organized Meals’ channel in the Telegram group.
Finding Your Baseline at Edge City Lanna
To help you feel settled, think of Alt_Ping River as your home base. This is where you can work, meet others, and stay connected. Start your day by joining the community breakfasts to connect with others, then head to Alt_Ping River to get into your routine — whether that means coworking, networking, or simply enjoying the space.
Here is an easy way to think about the village spaces:
If you’re ever looking to meet up with other people, go to Alt_Ping, Red Dog Gallery, or Social House at any time.
If you want to do deep work, head to the Alt_Ping Coworking space.
If you’re looking for a healthy meal, go to Chef’s Together before 2pm. All the meals will be healthy, locally sourced, organic, and seed oil-free.
If you’re interested in learning something, look at The-A-Ter schedule before 5pm. The-A-Ter will have the most programming and setup for easily hosting sessions.
Remember to take it slow, and not worry too much about missing things. There is plenty to do, and we have a long time together.
Make the Most of Your Arrival
When you arrive, we encourage you to try to meet three new people on your first day. Go up to someone you don’t know and say hey 🙂 Here are three questions you can use to break the ice:
What brought you to Edge City Lanna?
What's one thing you're excited to learn or explore this month?
If you could collaborate on any project, what would it be?
Try Cursive Connections
We’re also excited to introduce Cursive Connections — a way to foster serendipity while maintaining privacy.
Tap your NFC wristband after you check-in near the top of your iPhone or middle of your Android:
Add your socials to easily share them when others tap your wristband
Add your interests/goals to discover overlap with residents without revealing anything else
Coming soon: discover serendipitous connections & events that fit your interests!
We love showcasing experiments like this, and the Cursive team has been hard at work getting it live. We recommend you try it—it’s an excellent way to meet people and expand your network here at Edge City Lanna.
We can't wait to see you this weekend! Let’s make this opening one to remember.
