TLDR
Our goal is to create a space where family life and creative pursuits blend seamlessly at Edge City Lanna.
We're breaking down age barriers to foster an environment where everyone, regardless of age, can learn from each other.
Below you'll find details on how kids will be part of Edge City Lanna, including daily activities, weekend adventures, and local experiences.
Like everything at Edge City, this is a co-created aspect of the experience, so you can get involved in shaping the family-friendly community you want to see.
At Edge City, we're reimagining how families live and learn together. Our pop-up villages aim to create spaces where family life and creative pursuits blend seamlessly. We take seriously the idea that "it takes a village to raise a child", and we believe it's good for everyone in the community for kids to be more integrated into it as well.
Most of modern society segregates people by age, but we're breaking down these artificial barriers. In our villages, you'll find toddlers playing alongside teenagers working on projects, while adults and elders share their knowledge and experiences. This intergenerational mix creates a dynamic learning environment where everyone, regardless of age, can learn from each other. Younger children benefit from the guidance of older kids, while adults gain fresh perspectives from the curiosity and playfulness of youth.
That leads to the natural question: how will kids spend their time? Children have unique needs, so this post will dive into how kids will be part of Edge City Lanna in October.
Our approach
The kinds of moments we're trying to create
For children: We want to spark creativity in children by providing opportunities for parallel play, guided exploration, and exposure to a wide range of adults who care deeply about their work and community.
For parents: Parents often feel like they have to choose between their creative, work, and family life. The Edge City Lanna community will be filled with people who understand that challenge and want to help build a creative environment where that doesn't have to be such a binary trade off, and where parents feel they can be fully present and welcomed without leaving the people who are most important to them behind.
For people without kids: This isn't just about kids and parents – we also want to create opportunities for people who don't have kids to spend time with children and learn from them as well. As society gets more and more age-segregated, many people haven't spent any meaningful time with kids before they themselves become parents; we want to change that.
What we will & won't provide
Ultimately, you are responsible for making decisions for how your kid spends their time while at Edge City Lanna. Our role is to provide a scaffolding for you to build off and leverage the awesome things the Chiang Mai community already has to offer, and make it easy for you to find those opportunities for your kids.
Our team's focus is to create opportunities for your family to be part of a community that would be hard for you to create on your own.
Calendar
At Edge City Lanna, we're committed to creating an environment where families can thrive and connect with the community. Here's a glimpse of what a typical day might look like for kids and families:
During the week, we will have daily brunch with the whole community.
We encourage families to come eat breakfast together at 8:30 am. This is a great opportunity for families to meet, socialize, and plan their day together.
We will provide kid-friendly food and some activities like art supplies will be available for kids to use as they finish their meal.
As you explore the Edge City Lanna facilities, you’ll find various activity stations.
These will be set up in common areas where children (and adults!) can engage in creative play independently or together.
These stations will be designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and provide a fun and stimulating environment.
There will be Learning Labs – flexible, educational sessions designed for children and led by community members.
These engaging, kid-friendly activities will be added to the calendar on Social Layer throughout the week, including Sundays and weekday afternoons.
The Learning Labs will cover a wide range of topics like art, science, philosophy, and more, drawing on the diverse skills and expertise within our community.
Saturday each week will be Adventure Day.
We will help organize day trips to places like the Phoenix Adventure Park, Ginger Farm Chiang Mai, or Himawari Glam Camping.*
These trips are designed for you and your kid to have fun together. If you're coming as a couple, we're imagining that one parent will likely go with the kid on a given trip while the other stays back at the village to participate in that weekend's lectures, workshops, etc.
You're also welcome to send your kid off with another adult you trust, maybe the parent of one of your kids's friends or a friend who doesn't have kids who's excited to spend some time with your kids. Our hope is that you find some people you can co-parent with in October and for Edge City Lanna to help form a support network for your family.
We will assist in arranging cultural-educational experiences that are open to everyone
These experiences will provide opportunities for families to cultivate an understanding and appreciation for the rich heritage of Thailand.
Activities may include local craft workshops, Thai language basics, traditional dance classes, and more.*
These experiences, like the adventure days, are designed as experiences for you (or a trusted friend) and your child to have fun and learn together.
We'll help organize a babysitting club.
Parents and other adults can volunteer to take your kids for an evening so that you can have a date night, attend a lecture, or simply get some rest.
As Edge City Lanna approaches, we're continually working with our community to develop even more child-friendly experiences. Our team is committed to integrating children into as much of the Edge City Lanna programming as possible, creating an inclusive environment for all ages.
While we encourage event organizers and parents to involve kids in community activities, we recognize that not every session or event will be suitable for children. To help parents navigate the schedule, we will have a "Family-Friendly" tag in Social Layer, our programming tool. This tag allows you to easily identify which activities are appropriate for parents to participate with their child.
Local Activities for Families
We are also working to find engaging, kid-friendly activities in the area that we can explore and activate together during our time at Edge Lanna. Our team has already identified several spaces where children can move their bodies, such as The Haven, an eco-friendly indoor playground and Let Grow, an outdoor playground and recreational space.
For those seeking educational experiences, we've also discovered some wonderful options, including Noina Art Studio, which offers art workshops and classes for children, and the Traidhos Three Generation Community for Learning, an education center that focuses on hands-on, experiential learning.

We understand that parents sometimes need a break or want to participate in adult-only activities. To support this, we've partnered with Thai Kids Home, a reputable babysitting service in Chiang Mai.
